Welcome to Chalk River – a sustainable clothing and lifestyle brand rooted in the coastal town of Emsworth, on the South Coast of the UK.

We create eco-conscious, unisex clothing using organic cotton and recycled materials – designed for comfort, durability, and life outdoors. From everyday T-shirts and hoodies to bags and accessories, each piece is made to be worn, lived in, and relied on. Every design is hand-printed, reflecting our connection to nature, creativity, and the place we call home.

Founded in Spring 2024, Chalk River was born between the coastline and countryside – nestled near Chichester Harbour and the rolling landscapes of the South Downs. This environment shapes everything we do: open space, fresh air, and a slower, more considered way of living.

Our name comes from the River Ems – a rare chalk stream flowing from the South Downs to the sea. Chalk streams are among the world’s most unique and fragile ecosystems, known for their clarity, purity, and quiet strength. They inspire our approach: to move with purpose, create responsibly, and respect the natural world around us.

At the heart of Chalk River is our founder, Dan – an artist, photographer, and designer driven by a deep connection to the outdoors. Every product begins with his vision and is brought to life by hand, from design and print to packing each order. This hands-on approach gives Chalk River its authenticity and personal feel.

What started as a single design – an ode to the “Emsworth Riviera” – has grown into a brand built on community, creativity, and care. We continue to expand thoughtfully, staying true to our values while building something that lasts.

Our garments are ethically made and designed for longevity, using responsible materials and recyclable packaging wherever possible. We also offer local collection to reduce unnecessary impact. But beyond products, Chalk River represents a way of living – one that values simplicity, connection, and time spent outdoors.
